What Is It?

Ultimate12 is an ERP II class solution provided partially free of charge to cater to the needs of small and medium e-commerce businesses. It is based on Ultimate AEGIS 2016 — the world’s first monolithic ERP platform, the most up-to- date and productive one on the market.

Its functionality is as follows:

  • medium enterprises’ needs for the automation of their internal business processes are
    more than fully met by the Ultimate12 configuration tools.
  • the Web component, with minimum functionality, is built on Umbraco (.NET), an open-
    source CMS system. The component provides a basis for the development of a fully
    functional e-store. The basic kit implements an online catalogue with two display options
    (list or table), filtering by goods properties, a shopping basket, and ordering goods with
    concurrent order creation in Ultimate12. Registration and authorization take place as the order is made.
    NO personal space is implemented.

The Ultimate AEGIS platform is aggregated with the Oracle 12c Enterprise Edition
DBMS and natively designed to use the most modern and powerful data processing
tools from Oracle, the world’s unrivalled leader on the industrial DBMS market, in the
most efficient manner.

Ultimate12 is an open system with unlimited capacity for the customization of business
logic and applied functionality as a whole:

  • the Ultimate AEGIS platform code is binary , and
  • the Ultimate 12 configuraion code is open, and anything can be done.

The programming languages used are C# and SQL.

Complicated screen forms are developed in MS Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition
(free) using the DevExpress WinForms component library (a trial version is available).
Routine screen forms are auto-generated by the platform’s own tools.

The versatile web services mechanism permits the creation of external applications for
mobile devices for any operating systems (WinPhone, Android, iOS) using any
development tools. An example is the Ultima MobileView component for iOS.
For Android, Ultimate AEGIS supports binary protocol for application server connection and metadata processing.
This technology greatly simplifies access to the application server services
but is tied to one platform: Mono + Xamarin. Consequently, the programmer works in
Xamarin Studio (a trial version is available). An example of its use is the Ultimate WMS
component.

For convenient DBMS acces, we recommend using:
a ‘free and clumsy’ option — Oracle SQL Developer
a ‘fee-based and convenient’ option –Toad for Oracle

In preparing the Ultimate12 release, we took the functionality of the Ultimate Concrete infrastructural configuration and discarded some features, simplified some others
(where possible), and adapted still others to the needs of enterprises that are small
(yet).

The Web component which is also the basis for the online store, instead of Ultimate eStore, whose functionality was considered redundant for the product’s target audience,
was developed on the basis of Umbraco, a free open-source project.

The Ultimate AEGIS platform common for all the Ultimate solutions naturally makes
the Ultimate12 solutions best-in- class in terms of productivity, convenience, reliability,
development and support cost and all the rest on its list of advantages.

For Whom?

It turned out rather difficult to say briefly and definitely, ‘who Ultimate12 is
intended for’. So, trying to copy the sculptor of genius, we’ll remove the
unnecessary, that is, explain for whom it IS NOT.

The product’s slogan is, ‘a grown-up ERP for a young business’.
Young rather than ‘small’. Youth means future growth, while being small is
destiny.

If you are a small business planning to remain so, choose something from the
endless multitude of ERP-like CMS systems, and Ultimate12 fits you as much
as a combine harvester is suitable for slash-and- burn farming.

Ultimate12, even in a configuration adapted to small enterprises’ realities, is a solution
with the genome of a large (or super-large) industrial ERP system.
It is NOT a canned solution, so you will not be able to ‘simply’ download it, ‘simply’
install it and ‘simply’ work on it.

It will take some efforts – to rummage in it and sort it out.

For all the risk of drawing analogies, we ‘ll take the liberty of comparing the use of
Ultimate12 in a small business to using UNIX-like systems instead of Microsoft
perpetrations on a home PC.

While being far more demanding on the operator’s skills, Linux rewards the latter with its
reliability, productivity and unsurpassed customization capability.
What will you choose?
Over 95% of home users choose Microsoft Windows.

True, this analogy is weak in that a home PC has few chances of turning into a super
server, while young businesses do sometimes undergo transformations of similar scale.

Against the above background, we have made a lot of efforts to make prospective
Ultimate12 operators’ life as easy as possible:

  • for those wishing to ‘try and tinker with it’, an image of the virtual machine is available
    for download (in the Download section).
    You just wait for those ridiculous 50 GB to download and get something to tinker with
    right away, without any additional settings.
    Pay attention: the virtual machine image is placed for demonstration purposes only; it
    cannot be operated in the working mode due to the natural productivity restrictions
    imposed by virtualization.
  • The distribution kit (for actual operation) includes a detailed video manual for the initial
    installation and setup of all the solution’s components, including the Oracle DBMS.
    Even a child will install it, and the skills required are not to be blind and to be able to
    read and listen. Electronically tested.

  • Relatively easy installation by no means cancels qualification requirements to the admins, who will have to operate the server part of the system,including Oracle database support.
    Which is not always a trivial task; lazy Oracle admins are right to charge their
    megabucks for their usual fifteen minutes of work a month.
    That is why we offer our potential Ultima12 operators a cloud service, Ultimate Cloud,
    which users can forget about the existence of any servers whatsoever for a small
    monthly fee, and will never know those horrible works like ‘incremental backup’ or
    ‘standby server’. Nor will they have to go into the licensing details of server operating

  • For developers: the system is well-documented.
    The distribution kit includes: for the platform-developer’s manual, administrator’s
    manual and general user’s manual, and an API reference book.
    For the Ultimate12 configuration: description of the implementation of the main business
    processes, Web services and integration modules for Umbraco.
    Plus the configuration’s source code, of course.
    Development uses modern industrial programming languages – C# 5.0 (ORM over
    LINQ), and SQL.
    There is no need to study fossilized proprietary coprolites like ABAP.

What you can get for free:

What must be paid for:

  • Licenses for external vendors’ software.
    You arrange all the licensing matters with them directly. For Ultimate Cloud users, the
    Microsoft and Oracle Database server OS licenses are included in the price of the
    service.
    Ultimate12 operators who maintain their server farms on teir own may purchase Oracle
    licenses from us, too. Oracle Corp. offers exclusive prices for licensing its products if
    used in conjunction with Ultima solutions.
  • Additional system users starting from the 13th one – in the format of the lease of Ultimate AEGIS platform licenses
  • Support packages that obligate us to respond to incidents within fixed deadlines.

The Ultimate12 is supplied free of charge.
You are entitled to build your own solutions on it and sell them as you like best without
paying anything to us.
The above platform licensing restrictions will still apply.

If you wish to sell configurations that you developed via us, we shall ask you
(a) to have them certified, and (b) share your income with us according to the general rules of the Ultimate partner programme.
To avoid too much detail, in this case we shall charge a 25% commission from the sale
cost of externally authored configurations.

Also. you may become an Ultimate certified partner and engage in serious things.

First of all, supporting Ultimate12 end users is
NOT envisaged.

The product support scheme is intended exclusively for administrators /
system application developers.

We communicate via tickets (topics) of our support forum.
The forum is moderated according to the established practice; junk, foul
language, and off-topic messages are ignored/deleted. We suggest that
matters not directly related to product support should be discussed in
the general forum.
